事件名化短语的认知功能是标示某类事物中的一个例示，并且使它成为言语行为者当前注意的焦点。这种认知功能主要通过事件名化短语的内部语义功能组织，即例示、具体化、量化和语境定位来实现。本文通过对英汉事件名化短语语义组织进行对比分析，揭示了事件名化语言现象的认知基础，即由“过程”到非典型“事物”的概念物化。分析结果表明：英汉事件名化短语各部分语义成分都表现出非典型事物的过程性和时间性特征；同时，英汉事件名化短语在概念组织及实现形式上也存在着基于不同语言系统和文化的差异。

The cognitive function of event nominalization groups is to designate an instance of a type of things, and to make it the current attention focus of speakers and hearers. This function is fulfilled through the internal semantic organization of event nominalization groups, The key findings of the present study are as follows. (1) The cognitive basis of event nominalization is conceptual reification, that is, a process is reconstrued as a thing. The abstractness and the verbal aspect are reflected in the semantic organization of event nominalization groups. (2) Some divergences between English event nominalization groups and Chinese event nominalization groups resulting from the different language systems and cultures are discovered.
