摘要： 本文选取两本英美经典小说及汉译本,参照汉语名著,对其中的因果关系连词进行了基于语料库的定量研究,并在此基础上分析英汉语句群结构的差异,指出英汉思维模式不同很可能是造成这种差异的深层原因。文章探讨了翻译中体现的民族文化心态。有理由认为,译作可以作为独立文本存在,西化句法在译文中存在具合理性。

Corpus-based contrastive studies on the causal conjunctions in English/Chinese classics

Abstract: Based on corpus techniques, this paper makes a quantitative investigation into the causal conjunctions of NUCECC, which consists of English novels and translations, and modern Chinese classics. A close analysis shows that the syntactic discrepancies of the two languages may be attributed to differences in modes of thinking. The article also explores into cultural identity as reflected in translations. There is reason to argue that translated texts can be treated as independent texts and that Westernized syntax is justified in Chinese translations.
