摘要： 副词是英语中动结构式构成的条件之一,副词在结构式中的不同位置既影响该结构式的可接受程度,又能导致该结构式的类型变化。借助大型语料库可以验证哪些副词能用于中动结构式,并通过频率分布发现其使用规律。语料库考察结果证实前人对中动结构式中副词使用的假设或结论大多不足为信,本文对此进行了修改和补充。

A corpus investigation on the use of adverbs in the English middle construction

Abstract: Adverbs are one of the sufficient conditions for the formation of the English Middle Construction, and different positions of adverbs in the construction not only determine the acceptability of this construction, but also cause the changes of the type of this construction. Evidence from large corpora can investigate what kind of adverbs can be used in the Middle Construction and the frequency of their use in it. Our corpus investigation shows that existing hypotheses or conclusions of the use of adverbs in the middle construction are mostly flawed. Modifications are made and new findings presented on the use of adverbs in the middle construction.
