摘要

本文通过实验探讨中国英语学习者对英语动词提升的习得。实验表明,他们知道英语定式句中的题元动词应该位于否定词和动词短语副词的右侧,在疑问句中不能置于句首而应该位于主语右侧,他们也知道情态助动词应该位于否定词左侧,在疑问句中置于句首而位于主语左侧。这说明受试具有英语定式句中题元动词不能显性提升而情态助动词必须显性提升的句法知识。此结果也表明中介语句法系统是没有损伤的,功能语类及其特征值在二语中能够得以体现。

A study of the verb raising by Chinese learners of English

Abstract: This article studies the acquisition of the English verb raising by an experiment on Chinese learners of English. The results show that they have the knowledge that English finite thematic verbs should be placed on the right of the negator and VP-adverbs, and they cannot be placed at the beginning of interrogative sentences, but should remain on the right of the subject. They also have the knowledge that English modal verbs should be placed on the left of the negator and at the beginning of the interrogatives. These indicate that they have the awareness of the non-raising of finite thematic verbs but raising of modal verbs, and imply that their interlanguage syntactic system is not impaired, displaying functional categories and their features.
